Windows 10.0.10586 + NovaBACKUP 17.2 + Image Backup (DR) to NAS

Last Updated: Nov 27, 2015 03:31PM PST
If you have Windows 10.0.10586 (November Update “Threshold R2” build) + NovaBACKUP v17.2 and you are using the Image Backup (Disaster Recovery) function of NovaBACKUP to save your Image Backup to a NAS device and are having failure of the Image Backup right away a few seconds in to executing the job.  This would only affect specific types of NAS devices that utilize SMB (Samba) and not NAS devices that utilize a Windows based file system.

Please follow the posting at the bottom of this Microsoft Knowledge Base article to follow those instructions on running two commands in Windows to implement a SMB (Samba) change.  This should allow the Image Backup job to work again in NovaBACKUP if using this edition of Windows.  The article describes that this was affecting Dlink, Lenovo and WD My Cloud NAS devices.

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article, the last post describes a possible fix, read the last post on November 23rd:

NOTE: Make sure to reboot after issuing the two commands described in the first URL above.  If that does not work then you would have to go back to an earlier edition of Windows 10, such as the original shipping edition of Windows 10 which is 10.0.10240.  NovaStor Technical Support personnel cannot assist you with this issue or with going back to an earlier edition of Windows 10.
