The portion of the Online Help Manual that details the "Machine Independent Restore" option for restoring the Image Backup to dissimilar hardware via the Image Restore Boot Disc (DR Boot Disc) is available here.  If attempting to restore your image backup to dissimilar hardware please take note of the following limitations of machine independent restore functionality.  Here is a NovaBACKUP Knowledge Base article to read regarding an error you may receive when attempting a Machine Independent Restore via the Image Restore Boot Disc/DR Boot Disc: "An INF file needed for a device could not be found: intelppm.inf" during Image Restore/DR Restore.

Machine Independent Restore SHOULD work in these scenarios:

Machine Independent Restore will not work if imaging a system originally with an Intel CPU which contained a 64-bit CPU to then restore that image to a system with an Intel CPU which is a 64-bit CPU.  This would include changing motherboards from one Intel compatible motherboard to another Intel compatible motherboard where both the original CPU was 64-bit and the motherboard you are restoring the image to is a Intel compatible motherboard with a 64-bit CPU.

Machine Independent Restore will not work if imaging a system originally with an Intel CPU which contained a 32-bit CPU to then restore that image to a system with an Intel CPU which is a 32-bit CPU.
