Job manually stopped by user Error: An unknown error occurred during backup processing. Error e0020002: The operator has cancelled the pending operation.

This known issue is a result of another application, process or user stopping the Novastor backup engine service.

Typically the most common reasons we encounter this issue is a result of conflicting software.


1) Make sure no other backup software is installed on the local machine. This includes any type of application that might also be using VSS. (Backup Exec, Acronis, Etc)


2) Exclude NovaStor Directories from Active Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware Scanning:

On XP and 2003:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NovaStor\
C:\Program Files\NovaStor\
C:\Program Files (x86)\NovaStor\
and also backup Location

On Vista, Win7, Win2008:
C:\Program Files\NovaStor\
C:\Program Files (x86)\NovaStor\
and also backup Location


3) Make sure when the job is running, you have set the settings to run as a user that has administrative rights on the machine. We suggested setting the job to run as the local administrator of the machine to avoid any type of GPO interaction from a domain account.
