To bind NovaBackup Network to a specific network card perform the following steps:

  1. Close NovaBackup Network.
  2. Stop the NovaBackup Network Service by using ONE of the following methods:
  • Using the Windows Command Line:
  • Open a Command Prompt (Start > Run > CMD [ENTER])
  • To change to the NovaBackup Network Directory type the following at a Command Prompt:
    • CD\ [ENTER]
    • CD "Program Files" [ENTER]
    • CD NovaNet [ENTER]
    • CD "NovaBackup Network" [ENTER]
  • Type the following at the Command Prompt:
    NNwinsvc -x [ENTER]
    This will stop the NovaBackup Network Service on the local machine.
     
  • Using the Microsoft Management Console (MMC):
    • Right click the "My Computer" Icon and select "Manage" from the context menu.
    • In the left Pane, expand the "Services and Applications item" (click the "+" to the left of the item).
    • In the left Pane , select the "Services" Item.
    • Locate the NovaBackup Network Service in the right Pane, right click it and select "Properties" from the context menu to view all available options.
    • Click Stop.
       
  • Open the NNconfig.ini ([Install_Path]\config, by default) with any text editor (e.g., Windows NotePad).
    • In the [configuration] section, add the following line: bindTo=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
      Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the local network card that communicates with the NovaBackup Network Domain. This section should resemble the following:
      [configuration]
      lastUser=Admin
      lastDomain=NovaBackup Network Storage Domain
      nodeGuid={00001001-421F132A-0003F771-FFE580D7}
      databaseServerAddress=localhost
      isDatabaseServer=Yes
      databaseServerName=NovaBackup Network Storage Domain
      disableNetwork=No
      remoteAdmin=No
      bindTo=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (IP address here)
       
  • Save the file as a text file and close it.
     
  • Start the NovaBackup Network Service by using ONE of the following methods:
    • Using the Windows Command Line:

        • CD\ [ENTER]
        • CD "Program Files" [ENTER]

        This will start the NovaBackup Network Service on the local machine.
