NovaBACKUP Version 13.1 and FastBIT 2 Support

With version 13.X of our NovaBACKUP Storage Server and Remote Workforce / xSP software we have officially stopped supporting FastBIT 2 as a compression option. If there are still RWF / xSP clients connecting to your NovaBACKUP Storage Server that contain FastBIT 2 data, you will see the following errors:

In order to fix these issues you will need to provide your Storage Server with the FastBIT 2 DLL and restart your NovaBACKUP Storage Server. You can download that file by clicking here. Once downloaded, extract the .DLL file from the ZIP and place it in your NovaBACKUP Storage Server installation directory and restart the Backup Server service. Once you have provided the FastBIT 2 DLL we recommend upgrading your clients to FastBIT 3. You can find more information on upgrading to FastBIT 3 by clicking here or visiting our Document Center.

On the storage server, create two copies of the DLL - one named expapply.dll and the other that is named expapply64.dll


Local Restores from Data Restore Wizard

 

If you are restoring files from a FastBIT 2 backup set with a local restore (e.g. - A restore provided from the Data Restore Wizard) you will see the following errors in the NovaBACKUP Client Log:

In this case you will need to provide the Client-Side FastBIT 2 DLL and place it in the NovaBACKUP Client's installation directory. You can download that client DLL by clicking here.
