How to delete or clear the "Recent File" (recently run job script files) list in NovaBACKUP client GUI app (all client versions). The "Recent File" (recently run job script files) list will look something like this first example screenshot in the client GUI app (all client versions):
That recent files (jobs) history list in the above screenshot is simply a registry edit you will have to manually perform, with these visual steps, while logged in to Windows on that machine with the same user that you took your own screenshot of in the ticket:
1. Exit out of the NovaBACKUP client GUI app (the main app).
2. Go to Windows Services (services.msc) and right click on the service named "NovaBACKUP Copy/Backup Engine", and do a stop function on it.
3. Go to Windows Start Menu then Run and enter in this command and press enter:
regedit.exe
4. Inside the Registry Editor app you will first need to navigate to the exact same key value below, that is showing at top top left of my attached screenshot in the notepad session on the left of it, and that same key value is also on the right of it, in the Registry Editor app.
This is the exact Registry Key entry to navigate manually to via the regedit app that is open (in some cases you can paste in this entire key value at the top entry field at this point):
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NovaBACKUP\Recent File List
See the example screenshot below for the key value to navigate to and how that would look at this point:
5. Once you have that key selected in the left side of the regedit app (like above), then on the right side of the regedit app, in the list of your own recent files values list there, always start with the 2nd value in the list, which should always equate to "File1", which will be the value entry just below the stock first "(Default)" value, which in that case don't ever delete that 1st (Default) value ever, as that needs to always be kept in place as is, and then right click and do a delete function on each and every value that is underneath that first "(Default)" named value. You will be prompted each time you delete a value like my second screenshot shows for that prompt. Continue deleting those values one by one until done, and only that first "(Default)" key is in that right side list. Make sure that if you do leave any of the non Default values in place that they are ordered correctly, as it likely won't be able to handle it you do choose to leave some of the file entries in the list like this:
(Default)
File1
File6
File9
In that case you'd simply need to reorder the numbers of those value keys by right clicking on the File6 entry in the right side and instead rename that value to be File2, and rename the File9 entry to be File3, so that the sequential ordering of the numbers there is correct. See the example screenshot of trying to delete the first "File1" value:
6. Then run the NovaBACKUP client GUI app (the main app) and the recent file history listing should be null (blank) then, unless you did end up leaving some of the entries in place dring Steup 5, for that same user that you are logged on to Windows now with. The "Recent File" list should be null (blank) now, like as seen in this example screenshot at that point in the steps:
If at this point after following all of the instructions steps above, the recent files history is still showing prior job script filenames in that list, even though you haven't run any new jobs since completing the prior Step 5, it means that that you didn't do steps 1 and 2 or you are now logged in to Windows with a different user, and you will have to repeat all of these steps again with that user that you are now logged in to Windows with, all over again, from start to finish (per each and every Windows user that you have, and that you run the NovaBACKUP client GUI app with in that case.
