Clean un-install CMC (Central Management Console app, which is a legacy product) to replace it with CMon (CMon Server app) for self-hosted users.
CMon - Central Monitoring Console
This guide applies only to those users that currently have the NovaBACKUP Central Management Console (CMC) product installed, or evidence of it being installed seen by NovaStor Technical Support. The user would like to replace Central Management Console (CMC) application with the CMon application on the same server. Since both the CMC and CMon utilize most of the same files and installation paths, there can be complication for those users that have CMC installed, or had it installed prior, and are attempting to install CMon.
If during the installation of CMon receive an error screen that says "Management Server Setup Wizard ended prematurely" and the installation attempt seems to roll back the changes then you are certainly a candidate to follow this guide.
First of all the CMC - Central Management Console (CMC) application has to be completely uninstalled along with the database file that the CMC uses.
1. Open Windows Services ("services.msc" command via Start Menu -> Run or Search entry box).
2. Navigate to these two services in the list "Management Server" and the one entry below that "Management Web Server" which are the Central Management Console.
3. Right click on each of those two services listed above and STOP those two services.
Launch an admin command prompt:
sc delete "Management Server"
sc delete "Management Web Server"
4. Navigate to this folder via Windows Explorer:
"C:\ProgramData\"
5. Go to Windows Explorer and click on Folder Options and then Disable (un-check) the option listed as "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)".
6. Refresh the C:\ProgramData\ folder via Windows Explorer to see some additional protected files in that folder.
7. Delete this particular license related file (your file may be slightly different named but as long as it has the same amount of characters in it and the file extension is ".dat":
"C:\ProgramData\EDBC777B-3B54-4D95-80F4-91CC0C30C8DD.dat"
8. Via Control Panel -> Programs & Features area Uninstall "Management Server" from the list. This is the CMC that is currently installed.
9. Via Control Panel -> Programs & Features area Uninstall "NovaBACKUP Central Management Console" from the list. This is just the desktop icon for CMC.
10. Delete the entire folder mentioned below to delete all of the CMC settings including the CMC database.
NOTE: If your operating system is 64-bit Windows then this folder may be named this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NovaStor\NovaBACKUP Central Management Console\".
NOTE: If your operating system is 32-bit Windows then this folder may be named this:
"C:\Program Files\NovaStor\NovaBACKUP Central Management Console\".
11. Run the command "regedit.exe" which is the Windows Registry Editor, via your Start Menu, you can search for regedit.exe there or surround it in quotes. Once in the Registry Editor application, click at the very top left item on the browser window on the left side, which will be named "Computer", select that by left-clicking on "Computer". Then navigate to this registry key by copying and pasting the full line of text in to the location toolbar at the top of the Registry Editor application:
On a 64-bit Operating System that registry key location is:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Management Server
On a 32-bit Operating System that registry key location is:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Management Server
Once you paste in the appropriate text string to locate then press your enter key to tell the Registry Entry the location that you want to go to.
Once the "Management Server" registry key is highlighted on the left side of the Registry Editor application then right-click on the highlighted text for that item and choose Delete. That will remove the entire key.
While still in the Registry Editor application navigate to this registry key by copying and pasting the full line of text in to the location toolbar at the top of the Registry Editor application:
On a 64-bit Operating System that registry key location is:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
On a 32-bit Operating System that registry key location is:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Now go to the Edit menu and choose Find. Make sure that all three check-boxes at the top left of that screen are checked, and the item at the bottom"Match whole string only" is un-checked. Enter in to the field marked "Find what:", this data: NovaBACKUP Central Management Console
Then click on the Find Next button to search for that text. You may or may not see an entry to remove, if you do get an entry to remove it will highlight on the right-side of the screen the text that you searched for "NovaBACKUP Central Management Console". On the left side of the screen you will see the key be highlighted that matches that found result, and it will be random letters and numbers with hyphens in between, about 32 characters in length. An example key such as this, highlighted in bold below, would be: "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{CF47A4AD-6BC1-4B2E-8A08-B86E31B37677}". Take your mouse and left-click on that highlighted registry key on the left side of the screen and do a Delete and then answer Yes to the prompt that comes up to remove that particular key.
12. Run the command "regedit.exe" which is the Windows Registry Editor, via your Start Menu, you can search for regedit.exe there or surround it in quotes. Once in the Registry Editor application, click at the very top left item on the browser window on the left side, which will be named "Computer", select that by left-clicking on "Computer". Then go to the Edit menu and then click Find. Make sure that all three check-boxes at the top left of that screen are checked, and the item at the bottom"Match whole string only" is un-checked. Enter in to the field marked "Find what:", this data: Central Management Console
Then click "Find Next" on the right-side of the screen. If during the find process it finds an entry for "Central Management Console" then delete that registry key entry to remove that key which is HIGHLIGHTED on the right-side of the screen where it shows the found item that matches that string, by right-clicking on the highlighted entry and choose "Delete" to delete that found result. Now keep repeating the Find Next operation, by clicking in the Edit menu and then choose Find Next (alternatively and quicker you can press your "F3" key to keep finding the next entry to remove). Keep on doing a Find Next to locate the next result to Delete, go all the way to the end until you reach a pop-up Window titled "Registry Editor" and the text displayed in the box is "Finished searching through the registry". Click OK to close that Window. Now you are done looking for "Central Management Console" text in the registry. You now will be required to move on to the next step, Step 12 to look for an additional string of text.

You now will be required to move on to the next step, Step 12 to look for an additional string of text.
15. Restart the computer.
16. Download and Install the freeware program named CCleaner and perform the "Registry Clean" operation in that program. At this point I *HIGHLY* suggest that you download and run CCleaner. This is a Windows Registry Cleaner and execute the registry clean 3 times, You can download the freeware program called CCleaner at this direct link, get the edition that shows as "Free" or "Standard" here:

15. If the CCleaner application was utilized to perform the "Registry Clean" operation then you are required to restart the computer again to actually finish that operation.
16. At this point you should have the CMC application fully removed from the system and can now attempt an installation of the CMon software if you would like, otherwise you can stop here at this step and you can be sure that the CMC product is now fully removed from this computer. The steps are shown below for this, and we will start the ordering of those steps over again from 1.
1. Now install the CMon application (as a clean install).
NOTE: Make sure the version of CMon that you are installing is compatible with the version of the NovaBACKUP PC/Server/Business Essentials client software that you are utilizing (the CMon app is only compatible with NovaBACKUP 18.1 client and newer clients only). In most cases it is okay to use the latest version of CMon however it is advisable to upgrade the backup clients as well at the same time if there is a newer version of the backup client and a newer version of the CMon.
2. From each NovaBACKUP GUI client software (the regular NovaBACKUP desktop shortcut for the client) (process name = NovaBackX.exe) go in to the Default Settings area of the software, at the top left of the program where the large circle "N" icon is, and then click on the "CMon Server" tab and click the "Stop Service" button to stop the existing connection that was going to the CMC and then click the "Start Service" button to make the connection to the CMon application that was just installed. If using a different Server name or if you are installing the CMon Server application on a different computer name for the PC or IP Address than original for the PC that had CMC installed on it, be sure to change the "Server name:" on the "CMon Server" tab screen to the IP address of the server that you just installed the CMon application on.
3. Go to the Windows Services area of Windows on each machine that has the NovaBACKUP backup client software installed on it and look for the Windows Service named "Backup Client Agent Service" and right-click on that service and do a Restart to force the agent service that runs in the background installed on each machine with NovaBACKUP client software installed on it to make its connection to the CMon application running on this server. Also verify that the Startup type for the "Backup Client Agent Service" is set to "Automatic (Delayed Start)". There are times when the "Start Service" button described in the prior paragraph does not have permission to set this services's "Startup type" correctly and requires this manual change described in the next sentence for you to perform. If it differs from that change it by double-clicking on the Service and in the General tab choose the pull-down menu for "Startup type:" and change it to "Automatic (Delayed Start)", if that choice is not there then choose "Automatic" for the Startup type: choice. Now save the change by clicking the OK button.
4. Test out the CMon application. Make sure that the Clients are reporting in to the CMon, it may take up to 30 minutes to show all of the clients reconnect. If one does not reconnect verify the
