Editing Disaster Recovery jobs to change how they appear in Logs tab; default is "My Backup".
The default way of how the Disaster Recovery (DR) image jobs are displayed in the Logs tab "Job Name" column is that each image backup is referenced as "My Backup". To better suite your needs, especially if you have multiple DR jobs on your Schedule, you can set a custom name for each one of your DR jobs so that they are not all listed as "My Backup" in the "Job Name" field in the Logs tab. An example of this is shown in the screen shot below, highlighted in YELLOW is how your Image Backup (Disaster Recovery image) entry will look like by default unless you use this instruction set to change it to match your requirements to improve the look of that name value so that your DR image jobs are not always displayed as simply "My Backup":
The top most entry in the above screenshot, for the "Image Backup" that is NOT highlighted in yellow, is an example of setting a custom name for how the DR image "Job Name" is displayed in the Logs tab. This screen shows the full name "Disaster Recovery - System Reserved Only" instead of the default value of "My Backup" to better identify the name of the DR job.
There is currently NO WAY IN THE NOVABACKUP GUI CLIENT application that you can change the way that the "Job Name" appears in the Logs tab for DR jobs but YOU CAN change the wording by editing the related DR job script(s) manually in a text editor. You can edit your Disaster Recovery Retention job scripts (.NBK files) in notepad.exe to change the way your current Disaster Recovery jobs are listed as when viewed from the Logs tab. The following instructions will explain how to do this yourself.
The files you need to edit one by one, in notepad.exe or other text editor, are located here:
On older XP and Win2003 Operating Systems:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NovaStor\NovaStor NovaBACKUP\UserScripts\your_name_here\DR\
On newer Vista, Win7, Win8, Win2008 and newer Operating Systems:
"C:\ProgramData\NovaStor\NovaStor NovaBACKUP\UserScripts\your_name_here\DR\"
Once opened in Notepad you can scroll down to where it has the [device] section:
[device]
SessionName=My Backup
Change the value of the variable "SessionName=" to make it match the value that you currently have set for the "MediaName=" variable. So if your "MediaName=Jon-Laptop Disaster Recovery" then set the "SessionName=" value to equal "Jon-Laptop Disaster Recovery" instead of "My Backup".
