Example of defining a job object
Objective
You want to define a job object.
Opening the dialog
1. Go to Backup/Restore > Jobs Objects.
⇨ The Job Objects dialog box opens.
2. Right-click on the Backup Job and left-click on > New > Global FILE in the context menu to select the backup type.

Generates a job object for files and directories. |
Global NDMP |
Generates a job object for an NDMP interface. Entry of the name and path. |
Global PIPE |
Generates a job object for a PIPE. Entering name, PIPE command, and selecting the operating system. |
1. The following backup types are available: Global FILE/ Global NDMP/ Global PIPE

Name |
Entry field for the job object name. |
Operating system |
Selecting the operating system. |
Node |
Selecting Node makes it possible to browse to the desired backup files or directories via Device/ Network Device/ Network Share. |
Text field |
Entry field for the path to the desired backup file. |
File Browser |
Shows the directories and files of the selected path. The desired files can be dragged and dropped to the Include Files or Exclude Files windows from this window. |
Include Files |
Files/ directories which are to be backed up. Include files can be dragged and dropped into this pane from the File Browser or written directly to this pane. |
Exclude Files |
Files/directories to be excluded from the backup job. These exclude files can be dragged and dropped into this pane from the File Browser or written directly to this pane. Exclude file path names always begin with ">". |
[Add Root-Drive/share] |
The entire drive is selected. Enters the drive in this Include Files pane. For example, C:\* |
[Add all hard drives] |
For Windows only! Enters $all in the Include Files pane Backs up all hardware disks, without any network shares or CDs. |
Defining the job object
1. Enter the the job object name.
2. Select the operating system (OS).
Search for files/directories
There are now two options for selecting the desired files/directories:
1. Select the node and navigate to the desired files/directories using the Device/ Network Device/ Network Share functions.
Or
1. Enter the path to the desired files/directories directly in the text field.
⇨ The desired files/directors can now be selected for the job object.
Including/excluding files in the job object
There are now two options for including or excluding files/directories in the job object:
1. Drag the marked files/directories to the Include Files or Exclude Files field.
2. Click on [OK] to confirm your selection.
⇨ The window closes.
Result
The new job object is now in the Job Object dialog box and the related files/directories are in the related Job Object Items pane.
