Adding multiplexer to media pool
Create and edit media pool
Objective
You have the option to create an unlimited number of media pools.
Proceed as follows:
1. Go to Media Management > Tape Library Management.
⇨ The Media Management window is opened.
2. Click the Media Pool tab.
⇨ Windows showing the defined Media pools and Tapes are opened
3. Select Create media pool from the shortcut menu in the Media pool section.
4. Assign a name to the media pool and select the backup server.
5. Select the library partition and the scratch pool.
The media type in the Library partition must correspond to the media type in the Scratch pool.
1. If required, select a schedule for the retention check.
2. Save the settings by clicking [OK].
Result
The new media pool is being created and is then available in the list of media pools.
Adding multiplexer to media pool
Objective
You wish to add a multiplexer to a media pool.
Proceed as follows:
1. Go to Media Management > Tape Library Management.
⇨ The Media Management window is opened.
2. Click the Media Pool tab.
3. Select the media pool to which you wish to add a multiplexer.
4. Click Add Multiplexer in the shortcut menu.
⇨ The dialog is opened.
5. Enter the port.
Select a free network port on the backup server to serve as a multiplexer. Ensure that network port is not linked to any other application.
NOTICE
6. Save the settings by clicking [OK].
Result
The multiplexer is now assigned to the medium.
Creating scratch pool
Objective
You wish to create a scratch pool. Scratch pools should preferably only contain one media type.
Proceed as follows:
1. Go to Media Management > Tape Library Management.
⇨ The Media Management window is opened.
The Scratch pool window shows only the media that can be used, e.g. new media and media whose retention period has elapsed.
In addition, the currently available scratch pools are displayed on the Dashboard. | ||
NOTICE |
1. Click the Scratch pool tab.
⇨ All previously set up scratch pools are listed.
2. Select Create scratch pool in the shortcut menu.
⇨ The Create scratch pool dialog is opened.
3. Enter a name for the scratch pool.
4. Select the Media type.
5. Save the settings by clicking [OK].
Result
The scratch pool is created.
