How to Setup Full Backup Rotation for 1 week with Full Backup

 

If you create 5 jobs and schedule them one for each day, then after one week it will start overwriting your old backups and you will have 4 days to go back in case you need to.

  • Click on a TAB called Backup, in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select New Backup JOB
  • Under Backup Name call it: Monday, then on a bottom left site choose destination and under media name call it: Monday.
  • Make Your Backup Selection, and click on settings in bottom right. In settings under Write Mode choose OVERWRITE MEDIA,Set Backup Mode to Full then click OK
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE BACKUP JOB AS and name it Monday, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose First Upcoming Monday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 1 day and select only Monday.

 

Now From a Main Screen

  • Under Backup Name call it: Tuesday, then on a bottom left site choose destination and under media name call it: Tuesday.
  • Your Backup Selection Should Be Set.
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on a big N and select SAVE Monday JOB AS and name it Tuesday, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose First Upcoming Tuesday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 1 day and select only Tuesday.

 

Repeat those steps for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

How to Setup Full Backup Rotation for 2 Full Backups rotating every 2 Weeks on Friday and

4 Differential on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with Overwrite

 

Total # of Jobs 6

If you create 2 jobs and schedule them one for each day, then after 2 weeks it will start overwriting your old backups

  • Your Backup Selection Should Be Set.
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE Monday JOB AS and name it Friday2, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose Second Upcoming Friday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 2 day and select only Friday.

 

Now We Will Setup Differential

From a Main Screen

  • Under Backup Name call it: Monday, then on a bottom left site choose destination and under media name call it: Monday
  • Your Backup Selection Should Be Set, click on settings in bottom right. In settings under Write Mode choose OVERWRITE MEDIA, and Set Backup Mode to Differential then click OK
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE Friday JOB AS and name it Monday, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose First Upcoming Monday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 1 day and select only Monday.

 

Repeat those steps for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Full Backup on Friday and 4 Differential on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with Overwrite

Now We Will Setup Differential

From a Main Screen

  • Under Backup Name call it: Differential , then on a bottom left site choose destination and under media name call it: Differential
  • Your Backup Selection Should Be Set, click on settings in bottom right. In settings under Write Mode choose OVERWRITE MEDIA, Set Backup Mode to Differential then click OK
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE Friday JOB AS and name it Differential, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose First Upcoming Monday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 1 day and select  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Backup Rotation 1 week to a Tape

Do that till you have your Week Set.

How to Setup Full Backup Rotation for 2 weeks with NovaBACKUP

 

If you create 10 jobs and schedule them one for each day, then after two weeks it will start overwriting your old backups and you will have 8 days to go back in case you need to.

 

Those steps will create 2 weeks rotation for you:

Click on a TAB called Backup, in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select New Backup JOB

  • Under Backup Name call it: Monday1, then on a bottom left site choose destination and under media name call it: Monday1.
  • Make Your Backup Selection, and click on settings in bottom right. In settings under Write Mode choose OVERWRITE MEDIA, and Set Backup Mode to Full then click OK
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE BACKUP JOB AS and name it Monday1, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose First Upcoming Monday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 2 day and select only Monday.

 

Now From a Main Screen

  • Under Backup Name call it: Tuesday1, then on a bottom left site choose destination and under media name call it: Tuesday1.
  • Your Backup Selection Should Be Set.
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE Monday JOB AS and name it Tuesday1, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose First Upcoming Tuesday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 2 day and select only Tuesday.

 

Repeat those steps for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

 

Once you have one week done then Create Second Week:

  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE BACKUP JOB AS and name it Monday2, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose Second Upcoming Monday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 2 day and select only Monday.

 

Now From a Main Screen

  • Under Backup Name call it: Tuesday2, then on a bottom left site choose destination and under media name call it: Tuesday2.
  • Your Backup Selection Should Be Set.
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE Monday JOB AS and name it Tuesday2, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose Second Upcoming Tuesday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 2 day and select only Tuesday…..

Second Differential Job From a Main Screen

  • Under Backup Name call it: Differential2 , then on a bottom left side choose New destination and under media name call it: Differential2
  • Your Backup Selection Should Be Set, click on settings in bottom right. In settings under Write Mode choose OVERWRITE MEDIA, and Set Backup Mode to Differential then click OK 
  • From a main Backup Screen in a TOP Left Corner Click on Big "N" NovaStor Logo With Blue and Red Color and select SAVE Differential JOB AS and name it Differential2, then click OK
  • On a Bottom Right of Main Screen Click on a Schedule.. Set Type of Schedule to Daily, First Run choose Second Upcoming Monday and choose time, Repeat every.. set to 2 day and select  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
