NovaBACKUP v19.2 Image Boot Media Overview
NovaBACKUP v19.2 introduces all new image boot media functionality for performing an image backup or restore of an image backup. The video covers creating the image boot media and booting your PC to it as well as an overview of the new functionality that is included. The newly re-designed image boot media allows greater flexibility than before and with it you can create an image backup, restore an image backup, and clone a hard drive as the major functions.
The new image boot media provides functionality from the GUI to see what drivers were detected after booting to the boot media and load additional drivers, set and confirm the video resolution, verify and change your network adapter settings, map a network drive and set permissions to that network location if it is protected, add comments to an image backup, verify your image after it has been created, get info on an image, and more.
The steps covered in the video:
1. Create Image Boot Media - Explanation of Simple mode versus Advanced mode. We use Simple mode on a Windows 10 PC. We use a USB flash drive in this example for the media but a CD/DVD will work.
2. Reboot your computer and press the key (the key guide is linked below) that tells it to boot up to the Image Boot Media (USB flash drive or CD/DVD disc).
3. Overview of the options seen just after booting to the Image Boot Media such as screen resolution, device drivers detected, and network settings. If you need to change any of these settings you can do so now and it will apply to this boot media session. If you need to add a storage driver, for instance if your internal hard drive is not seen by the boot media then you have the ability to add that driver in whether it exists on a local hard drive, external hard drive, or USB flash drive attached to this system.
4. Start the Image Backup and Restore interface. Note: If the Image Backup and Restore screen does not display here for you, and you only see the desktop with two icons on it, simply left-click in the center of the desktop to load it or double-click on the desktop icon marked "Disaster Recovery". If you click cancel on the prior screen for the video resolution choices it will not automatically load up the interface.
5. Overview of the major Image Backup and Restore interface functions including Image Backup, Image Restore, and Cloning.
6. Overview of the Tools in the Image Backup interface including inspect image info, verify image, mount image, map network drive, and setting network permissions if a network path that you are mapping is protected.
7. How to exit the Image Boot Media properly to reboot your computer.
Please note that at this time some of the functions in the Tools menu are not currently active to be able to utilize them, including the Mount Image, Mount ISO, and Convert Image functions. In addition the Jobs & Reports menu will only be able to show you the log of what has been done, you will not be able to schedule any type of job. Some of these functions may be activated at a later time as we work on the new interface going forward and it is also possible that some may be removed.

Please note that not all features included on the new Boot disk have been tested to work in all environments by NovaStor Technical Support, and as such, Technical Support will not be able to provide assistance in resolving all issues that may arise when attempting to utilize these features. There are some features that are incomplete or do not have all capability enabled on this boot disk, and as a result Technical Support strongly suggests only utilizing the Image Restore capability to restore an Image Backup (.NDF).
