Redundant File Configuration
NovaBACKUP xSP / Remote Workforce
The NovaBACKUP Storage Server supports the ability to "omit" or "deny" certain files from being backed up to the storage server by utilizing the Redundant File List Manager. This feature allows service providers to prevent common or recurring files from being backed up by either filename or file type.
Launch the Redundant File List Manager from the root of the NovaBACKUP Storage Server installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\NovaBACKUP Storage Server\Redundant File Manager.exe)
From the "General" tab you can [Add] a new file exclusion list.
Under the "File Names" tab you can elect not to backup specific file names. On the "File Types" tab you can choose file types that you wish to remove from backups.
After you have added all the extension types as well as any file names, you need to create a name for the list before you can save it as an .RFL file.
After you have created an RFL file that consists of the list of files you want to deny backup access to, you then need to choose which User Groups on the storage server this will apply to. In the example above we are applying the "Exclude_Video_Music.rfl" as part of the"Everyone" [Group Policy].
NOTE: This will not affect any previously backed up files. A Redundant File List will only prevent these files from being backed up in the future.
