With a regular NovaBACKUP (NBK) installation the temporary files are stored under the following path:
C:\ProgramData\NovaStor\NovaStor NovaBACKUP
You can move this directory via NBK GUI as follows:
1. Create new temp directory
Create a new directory on another drive (e.g. D:) (e.g. D:\NovTMP). The drive must have enough free space! This can also be C: itself.
2. Empty old temp directory
Delete contents of the directory "C:\ProgramData\NovaStor\NovaStor NovaBACKUP\Vdata" via Windows Explorer. If some data cannot be deleted, please stop the service "NovaStor NovaBACKUP Backup/Copy Engine" and close the NovaTray in the lower right corner of the taskbar. Do NOT delete Vdata folder, just delete the content!
3. Change temp directory in the basic settings
Click on the blue/red NovaStor "N" in the upper left corner.
Click on "Default settings".
Open the Advanced Options tab.
Under "Directory for temporary files" click the button to the right and navigate to the new temp directory (e.g. D:\NovTMP).
Confirm with OK.
Close GUI.
The "NovaStor NovaStor Backup/Copy Engine" service is automatically restarted for clients V14.5.x and higher. For clients <V14.5.x this must be done manually via "services.msc" or via the NovaTray.
Do not place the temp directories on network shares or USB drives. This is not supported. An alternative to local drives would be iSCSI drives (ATTENTION: possibly negative influence on performance and problems if the iSCSI drive is not available).
ATTENTION Cloud Port and xSP users:
If you use Cloud Port a different procedure is necessary! In this case, please request the appropriate procedure by e-mail to support@novastor.de.
