NovaStor DataCenter v8.x and newer
Access to a NAS or generally Network Shares is done through the account of the accessing service of the accessing system.
Accessing services can be
- NBK DC Backup Service
- NBK DC Hiserv Service
- NBK DC Remote Command Executor
Switch these services from running with "local system account" to an account that has local admin rights and remote read and write rights. The account can also be a local account if the same account with identical password is also created on the NAS. The NAS is then accessed via the UNC path of the share.
You do not need to modify the services directly.
You can switch the services by using the DataCenter GUI:
Open "Nodes Management".
Select the node that should have access rights to the share. This may be the backupserver (if the UNC path is the backup destinatioen) or the nodes from which you want to access the share (UNC path).
Double click on node. This dialogue opens:
Image 1: Node settings
Click on button "Edit".
Image 2: Enter userame/password
Specify a UNC path as backup source in the backup job:
Open the backup job and then "Select Fileset".
Enter the UNC path of the share in the text box above and confirm with Return.
The content of the directory will be opened on the left side for browsing and you can make your selection.
Then finish with "OK".
Create a disk pool using UNC path in the GUI:
Enter the UNC path in the text box at "Select Folder" when creating the disk pool.
Press the Enter key and you will see the content of the share. Use the * key to create a new directory or select an existing directory.
Then finish with "OK".
