NovaBACKUP PC/Server/BE 19.x and newer
You are using a share as a backup target. You want to restore files from this backup file, which is on a share, or you want to import this file again. The restore or import will run for a few seconds, but nothing will be restored or imported.
If you want to import a file or restore from a file, and this file is on a share, then NovaBACKUP (NBK) needs full access rights to this share.
Several approaches are possible:
1. Copy file to a local drive, e.g. USB drive
Simplest, but most storage intensive and time-consuming variant.
NBK has direct access to local drives, usually no permission adjustments are necessary.
2. Map drive letters to UNC path
Right-click "Network" => "Connect network drive..." => Select UNC path to file and enter login data.
In NovaBACKUP "Restore" tab select drive/path/file to import/restore.
3. Enter network credentials under "Restore"/"Import"
In the NovaBACKUP GUI under "Restore" by clicking on "Settings" => tab "Run under" enter a user who has full access rights to the share.
4. Change service "NovaStor NovaBACKUP Backup/Copy Engine" to another user
By default the service "NovaStor NovaBACKUP Backup/Copy Engine" runs under the local system account. With this the service has no direct access rights to shares! For the time of the recovery you may change this service to a user with full access rights to the share. After the recovery, return this service to the local system account.
On the NovaStor support website you can search for "NAS" to find more articles with a description of the permission settings. NovaBACKUP is not able to get extended access rights on its own and depends on appropriately configured access rights.
Please also note that anti-virus software and/or other security settings may prevent NovaBACKUP from backing up files!
