The Generic S3 Storage Services device type (S3-compatible device type) was added starting in NovaBACKUP 19.8. It supports file backups and restores to S3-compatible devices only at this time (read the note at the bottom). You can watch the NovaBACKUP 19.8 video series for various topics, including how-to's for Generic S3 devices, by viewing the YouTube playlist here.

For help with Importing backup sets from a Generic S3 Storage Services device (S3-compatible device) in NovaBACKUP 19.8, to be able to restore files from that S3 backup, which could have been produced from a completely different client computer, that can be accomplished by adding a new Generic S3 Storage Services device (your existing device cannot be edited after it is saved the first time for the Domain and Computer Name properties) in NovaBACKUP 19.8 (in case you lose the device itself in the configuration or the computer that had NovaBACKUP installed on it was lost or damaged and need to rebuild your setup and get your indexed backups that are stored on Generic S3 back) please read the how-to guide:

Currently in NovaBACKUP 19.8.1325 (19.8 Release), Generic S3 Storage Services (S3-compatible) devices only support file backups. The plan is to have all backup types be supported in the future. Copy jobs, and Plugins based backup types do not currently work, such as System State, SQL Server, Exchange, VM, nor do Virtual Dashboard (AVD) created VM backup jobs. Legacy Amazon S3 is no longer supported as a device type, although if you had an existing Legacy S3 device in place and you upgrade to 19.8 it will still display it in the Device tab; you would need to create a new Generic S3 Storage Services device to continue utilizing Amazon S3 backups, and you will need to know the URL to add the new device. You won't be able to restore your backups via NovaBACKUP client if they were stored on a Legacy Amazon S3 device keep in mind.
Currently as of 19.8.1325 (19.8 Release) the only Amazon S3 region endpoints that work for creating a Generic S3 Storage Services (S3-compatible) device in 19.8.1325 version, are these US-based endpoints:
The only Amazon S3 endpoints that work with Generic S3 device in NBK 19.8 are s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com and s3.amazonaws.com (the later equates to US-East-1 on the chart).
We will look to get the other Amazon S3 region endpoints compatible with NBK in a future version.
