The following is how to Enable Legacy Storage Devices in NovaBACKUP starting with version 21 and higher. This is needed in order to be able to specify legacy local storage devices including: mapped network drives, USB external hard drives, RDX drives, legacy network devices, single tape drive, etc. as a target backup device.
- Ensure that the NovaBACKUP application is completely closed before proceeding to the next step.
- Navigate to the Configuration File Open the File Explorer and go to the following directory:
C:\ProgramData\NovaStor\NovaStor NovaBACKUP\Profiles
- Edit the Configuration File Locate the nsconfig.ini file within the directory and open it with a text editor such as Notepad.
- Modify the INI File In the nsconfig.ini file, find the [Configuration] section and add the following line:
ShowLegacyDevices=1
- This will enable the display of legacy storage devices within the NovaBACKUP application.
- Restart the Backup/Copy Engine Service Open the Windows Services management console by pressing Win + R, typing services.msc, and hitting Enter. Scroll down to find the NovaStor NovaBACKUP Backup/Copy Engine service. Right-click on it and select Restart.
- Open the NovaBACKUP Application Once the service has restarted, open the NovaBACKUP application. You should now be able to utilize the legacy storage devices.
By following these steps, you will have successfully configured NovaBACKUP to show and allow the use of legacy storage devices.
