NovaBACKUP PC Agent and Server Agent


System Requirements
CPU: 1.3 GHz single core minimum (from 2 to 4 CPU cores recommended)
RAM: 4 GB (8 GB recommended) minimum for NovaBACKUP PC Agent and 8 GB RAM minimum for NovaBACKUP Server Agent (16 GB recommended)
Disk: 10 GB free hard drive available space on OS drive. (Full installation is approximately 500MB)
• TCP/IP network
• Setup installers updated with "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 Runtime", "Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime", and "ASP .NET Core 8.0.0 - Windows Hosting Bundle", which are prerequisites and are automatically installed.

• Windows 11, Version 24H2

• Windows Server 2022 (NovaBACKUP Server Agent and higher)

* Image backups do not support any tablet-based devices.

Backing up Virtual Machines (Microsoft Hyper-V)

Backing up Microsoft Hyper-V is supported only on Microsoft Server operating systems (not i.e.
Windows 10). In order to back up Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines, you will need to have
NovaBACKUP Server Agent installed on the Hyper-V Host Operating System.

Backing up Virtual Machines (VMware vSphere)

You will need NovaBACKUP installed on a machine (Physical or Virtual) with a supported operating
system and your VMware vSphere installation requires the vStorage API. The machine that NovaBACKUP is installed on needs to have network connectivity to your VMware vSphere server. NovaBACKUP may be installed on a Virtual Machine but will not be able to directly back up its own Virtual Machine.
The free version of VMware is not supported.

• External Hard Drives formatted NTFS - USB 2.0 / 3.0, FireWire Format external drives > 2TB with GUID Partitions (GPT) instead of MBR. Microsoft ReFS file systems are unsupported
• Network Storage (SAN or NAS / Network Share with CIFS or SMB Support)
• RDX drives
• USB flash drives formatted NTFS

Cloud / Offsite
• NovaBACKUP Cloud (NovaBACKUP Cloud Account)
• NovaBACKUP Self-Hosted Cloud
• Amazon S3-Compatible Device


System Image
• Bootable media requires a USB flash drive (up to 32GB) or CD-ROM
• Local hard disk
• Local network share
• Local NAS devices

Note for all installations

All installations require an Administrator Account and cannot be installed under a Limited User Account.
