This is needed in order to be able to specify legacy local storage devices including: mapped network drives, USB external hard drives, RDX drives, legacy network devices, single tape drive, etc. as a target backup device.
- Ensure that the NovaBACKUP application is completely closed before proceeding to the next step.
- Navigate to the Configuration File Open the File Explorer and go to the following directory:
- Edit the Configuration File Locate the nsconfig.ini file within the directory and open it with a text editor such as Notepad.
- Modify the INI File In the nsconfig.ini file, find the [Configuration] section, which is normally near the top of that file, and add the following line of text to the bottom of the [Configuration] section of text as a new line of text there:
ShowLegacyDevices=1
- This will enable the display of legacy storage devices within the NovaBACKUP application, but it will require a restart of one Windows service to see that change.
- Restart the "NovaBACKUP Backup/Copy Engine" service, in Windows Services ("services.msc" command) and to do that you will open the Windows Services management console by pressing Win + R, or by going to the Start > Run dialog and typing in "services.msc", and then press Enter. Scroll down to find the NovaStor NovaBACKUP Backup/Copy Engine service. Right-click on it and select Restart.
- Open the NovaBACKUP client application once the service has restarted, open the NovaBACKUP application. You should now be able to utilize the legacy storage devices.
