Change NovaBACKUP Language (All Versions)

This article explains how to change the NovaBACKUP client language using a .reg file or by editing the Windows Registry manually.

Method 1: Use a .reg File (Recommended)

Download and run one of the three pre-configured .reg files below. Each file sets the language system-wide, affecting all users.

You can open any .reg file in a text editor before running it to verify what it changes.

Method 2: Edit the Registry Manually

  1. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
  2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NovaStor\NovaStor NovaBACKUP
  3. Right-click the LanguageID DWORD (32-bit) entry and select Modify
  4. Set the Value data (Hexadecimal) to one of the following:
Language Value
English 409
German 407
Spanish 40A

After Changing the Language

The language change will not fully apply until you complete these steps:

  1. Restart the NovaBACKUP Backup/Copy Engine Service (nsService.exe) in Windows Services
  2. Close and reopen the NovaBACKUP client (NovaBackX.exe)

Alternatively, restarting the computer will accomplish both.

Note: Previously generated logs will still display in the language that was active when those jobs ran. Only new logs will reflect the updated language setting.
