Supported NovaBACKUP client Languages reference guide; how to change the client language manually (all versions)

Supported client Languages

NovaBACKUP client currently supports twelve languages. Various language codes are used to identify files and directories for a specific language, as well as what language the client GUI is displayed in. Language codes for the supported languages include, but are not limited to, those listed in the following table below.

To define the NovaBACKUP client language manually, for instance after a client installation has already completed and if you want to change the client language after that point manually, or if the client language that was either automatically detected or was manually chosen at the start of the client installation process is wrong, you can after the fact edit the "LanguageId" registry key, that will always be located, with the current value in it, under the following registry key and path, where you can double-click on the "LanguageId" REG_DWORD entry there to change that value as needed:

In this example the "LanguageId" registry key is set to "409" Hexadecimal for the value, which equates to  the English client language hexadecimal value (so the client GUI will be displayed in the English language); and a screenshot is below of what that would look like inside that registry key for that example:

Navigate to (or copy and paste in the complete value below including the surrounding brackets, to the address bar of the Registry Editor app, and press the enter key) this registry key below, that will exist as long as the NovaBACKUP client (any version) is installed:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NovaStor\NovaStor NovaBACKUP]
"LanguageId"=dword:00000409

This screenshot is with the registry editor app open to the registry key to edit the value on in question, and with the "services.msc" command ("Windows Services") open with the single service that you will need to restart (as well as the client app) after making a change to the above key value. Feel free to zoom into this image, or right-click on it and open it in a new tab (and then zoom in), to see the contents in a larger format that is easier to read:

It is 100% required that you restart the "NovaBACKUP Backup/Copy Engine" service ("nsService.exe" is the task name) and the client GUI app ("NovaBackX.exe" is the task name) tasks after that, in order for ALL of the changes to apply, including for the "Status:" line output messages in the "Status" tab to look correct for that different client language. Note: Any prior logs that are viewed via the client GUI ("LogViewer.exe" is the task name) will still content the content from the past client languages setting though. Any new logs that are generated with that new client language setting in place will be displayed in that new client language though.

Note: We have a separate KB article that details how to download or define a Windows Registry .reg file that can automate the client language changes if that is needed (for instance if you are not comfortable with editing the Windows Registry by yourself then you can use the download or define a .reg file method, that is detailed in that other KB article), which is here: https://support.novabackup.com/knowledgebase/change-novabackup-language-all-versions.
