Deleting Backup Data from NovaBACKUP Cloud Storage in NovaBACKUP 22
Delete all backup data in your NovaBACKUP Cloud storage account from the web portal, now that NovaBACKUP 22 no longer has a cloud login on the Devices page.
Applies to: NovaBACKUP PC Agent and NovaBACKUP Server Agent, version 22, with NovaBACKUP Cloud storage.
In NovaBACKUP 22, you no longer sign in to your cloud storage account from the Devices page, so the Delete Data button you may know from earlier versions is not in the application. This article shows where to delete the backup data in your NovaBACKUP Cloud storage account now, for example when the account is full or you want to start over with a new full backup.
Important: Delete Data permanently deletes all backups in the cloud storage account, for every computer and backup job that uses it. This cannot be undone. Make sure you have another copy of any data you still need before you continue.
- The email address and password of your NovaBACKUP Cloud account. This is the account you created when you signed up for cloud storage.
- Permission to edit the cloud storage account. If a managed service provider (MSP) manages your backups, ask your provider to delete the data for you.
- In NovaBACKUP 22, select Backup in the menu.
- For each backup job that writes to NovaBACKUP Cloud Storage, make sure it is not running. If you no longer want it to run, turn off its schedule.
- Repeat this on every computer that uses the same cloud storage account.
- In a web browser, go to https://login.online-backup.com/ and sign in with your NovaBACKUP Cloud account.
- Open Cloud Storage Accounts and select your cloud storage account.
- On the General tab, select Delete Data.
- In the Delete Data? dialog, check the backup folder it names, then select OK.
Important: Select Delete Data, not Delete. Delete removes the cloud storage account itself, together with all of its data.
Note: The used storage shown for the account is updated once a day, so it can take several hours before the account shows the free space.
- In NovaBACKUP 22, turn the schedules of your cloud backup jobs back on, or start a job with Start.
- The next run of each job is a new full backup. Make sure your cloud storage quota has room for it.
Can I delete the cloud data of only one backup job?
Not from NovaBACKUP 22. Delete Data always deletes all data in the account.
Old backups are not removed and my cloud account is full. Why?
Backups are removed by the retention settings of the backup job that created them, when that job runs. Backups of a job that no longer runs, or that you deleted, stay in the account until you delete them. See Understanding Backup Retention.
I don't know my NovaBACKUP Cloud account password.
