Alternatives in NovaBACKUP 22

Virtual Dashboard jobs for Hyper-V

Back up Hyper-V virtual machines with a regular backup job:

  1. On the Hyper-V host, select Backup in NovaBACKUP 22, then Create new backup.
  2. In the selections, check the virtual machines under Hyper-V.
  3. Select a Local Backup or Cloud Backup device, set a schedule, and select Save.

Note: Hyper-V appears in the selections only when the license includes Hyper-V virtual machines and the computer runs a Windows Server operating system with the Hyper-V role.

Virtual Dashboard jobs for VMware

VMware backups are not supported in NovaBACKUP 22. Existing VMware jobs in the Virtual Dashboard keep running on an upgraded computer, and you manage them in the Legacy UI.

Copy jobs

Use a regular backup job instead. To get individual files or folders back, use the Mount page:

  1. Select Mount in the menu, then select the backup set in Select Backup Set.
  2. Enter an empty or new folder in Mount Path, for example C:\Mount, and select Start Mount.
  3. When the mount completes, select Open in File Explorer and copy the files or folders you need.
  4. Select Unmount when you are done.

Replacing these jobs

  1. Create the replacement job in NovaBACKUP 22 and confirm in Job History that it completes.
  2. Open the Legacy UI from About > Open legacy interface, and stop the Copy job or Virtual Dashboard job by removing its schedule.
  3. Keep the legacy backups until you no longer need to restore from them. Restore them in the Legacy UI.

Important: A clean installation of NovaBACKUP 22 does not link the Legacy UI. Before you rebuild a computer that runs Copy jobs or Virtual Dashboard jobs, replace them with jobs in NovaBACKUP 22 or plan to install NovaBACKUP 21.x on the rebuilt computer.
